Airworthiness Directive (AD)
What Is an Airworthiness Directive (AD)?
An Airworthiness Directive, or an AD, is a regulation issued by the FAA that corrects unsafe conditions in products, which are defined by 14 CFR Part 39 as aircrafts, engines, propellers, and appliances. Airworthiness Directives are legally enforceable and all aircraft must meet every AD in order to be considered airworthy by the FAA.
