Amphibious Floats
What Are Amphibious Floats?
Amphibious floats are flotation devices that attach to the body of a light aircraft and allow it to land either on land or on water. They’re often used to allow pilots who fly into more rural or wilderness areas to more easily find a place to land, including lakes, where there may not be airports or runways. The size of float needed depends on the weight of the aircraft and how much water displacement the floats need to accommodate. Light aircraft that use amphibious floats are often referred to as seaplanes or flying boats.
