Difference Between a Private Airport and a Commercial Airport
What Is the Difference Between a Private Airport and a Commercial Airport?
A commercial airport is a publicly owned location at which flight operations take place, usually for commercial air traffic. A private, or executive airport is privately-owned location that maintains an airfield, air strip, or runway for private use by its owner or owners and isn’t open for use by the public. An commercial airport usually consists of a control tower for air traffic control, facilities for maintaining and storing aircraft, as well as terminals for passengers and staff, while the facilities available at private airports may vary depending on the size and location, as regulations for private airports vary per state. Airports also consist of runways for planes to take off and land, and sometimes helipads for helicopters. Larger commercial airports may have more passenger facilities, such as restaurants, shops, lounges, and even emergency services.
