What Is a Double Round-Trip?

A double round-trip flight occurs when an aircraft is used for a private jet charter and takes its passengers to their destination, then returns empty (or with passengers for an empty-leg flight) to its home base, before flying to the destination once more to pick up the original passengers and return with them to the home base for their return trip. This occurs when it is more costly for a jet charter company to have the aircraft away from the home base than it is to have it fly back empty.
