Because the cost of fuel is constantly changing, if there has been an increase in fuel prices, jet charter companies often charge a fuel surcharge for chartered flights in order to offset the cost of that increase and any additional costs they incur because of it. Fuel surcharges are constantly adjusted so that it covers only the current cost of fuel.
