As a heavy private jet traveler for business and leisure, you spend a lot of time in transit. And this means that you likely spend a lot of time waiting in lines, especially at customs. For some, even the thought of this process can bring feelings of dread. However, Global Entry may be able to help ease your travel worries and save some precious time when you come home from a private jet business or leisure trip. Learn more about Global Entry and whether you might be a good candidate.

What Is Global Entry?

Global Entry is a trusted traveler program offered by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). Upon their return home from a trip abroad, those who are eligible for the program can enter the U.S. using a special automatic Global Entry kiosk instead of having to wait in line to speak to a border control agent. With a scan of your passport or resident card and a fingerprint, and completion of a customs declaration, members are swiftly on their way to baggage claim and the airport exit.

How Can I Apply?

In order to become a Global Entry member, you’ll need to pass a rigorous background check as well as an in-person interview. This is how the CBP determines that you’re low-risk, and deserving of less scrutiny when you’re returning to the states. Additionally, the cost of the application is a non-refundable $100. However, there are a number of credit cards and loyalty programs that will waive the fee for you, such as certain American Express and Citi cards.

If you’re constantly on the move and you don’t have a criminal background, Global Entry may be a great idea to help make your private aircraft flights home a bit smoother and less stressful. Visit the U.S. Customs and Border Protection website to learn more about the CBP Global Entry program and how to get started. And as always, contact us to book your next international private jet charter trip!
