What Is an Empty Leg Flight?

Because many chartered flights are one-way flights, private jets are then left with what are known as empty legs (also called deadhead flights). These are returns to their destination or flights to other airports to pick up new passengers without having a current passenger. Because it’s costly to the jet charter company to operate flights with no passengers at all, empty legs flights are often offered at discounted rates.
